High Standards

On a short walk through the 'hood on this gray Fall day, my young son decided to have a campfire-so he did all the necessary things; he got some sticks and started beating away at bushes until he had a big pile of leaves, which he gathered into a pile on the sidewalk, and then stirred them with a stick, much like a witch would stir something in her cauldron.  Not wanting to miss out on the campfire, I plopped myself down on the sidewalk and joined in on the stirring.  We were busy with this for quite some time.  Once or twice as we were relaxing on the sidewalk under the gray sky, warming ourselves by the campfire (while a guy was busy detailing his truck on the other side of the street-that was weird and out of place!), my little firestarter said, "This is the best campfire EVER!!!"  Yes, my son, yes it is.
