Our First House

Mr. M and I have been married for 28 years . . . and yet the house we recently purchased will be the first house we will be buying together.  You see, he already lived in the house we have lived in for our entire married lives when he proposed to me.  We planned to stay here for the entirety of our earthly journey.  Who knew how much room a baby needs???  (Not just the baby, but the babies' food, toys, clothes, etc. etc.). This is the reason we are both so disproportionally stoked about buying a new home, a home that will truly reflect who we are (and we've had 28 years to figure that out), and a new home that will represent who we want to be.  We have designed the majority of the house ourselves, with one eye on the present, and the other eye on the future.  (You may be wondering why, between the two of us, we have only two eyes . . . it is because the Bible says that when a man and a woman marry, they become one flesh.)

It may seem worldly and materialistic to be so concerned with this earthly house, and the design of it, and the art we will display, but the Bible makes it clear that our homes are very important-especially for women.  We are called to be keepers at home.  Our homes are to be our priority.  We are called to hospitality, and, although hospitality starts in the heart and not the home, hospitality most often occurs in the home.  Pro. 14:1 says that a wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears her home down with her own hands.  All that suggests that it is the woman of the family, the wife and possibly mother, is the one who sets the tone of the home.  I want my home to have a tone of joy and gratefulness.  I want all who come in to feel that.  Mr. M wants the same for our home, and from experience of being in others' homes, we know how to share our joy and gratefulness with our guests . . . and we plan to have many.  For today, the way I set a tone of fun is by hanging a collage of retro camping pictures; also by buying a cute french press coffee maker to serve coffee (and cacao) to our guests.

  1. And a (good) "keeper of the home," you are!

BTW: I just came across this & thought of you: https://nerdynovelist.com. It's a writer with a YT channel who appears to have found some good AI tools for helping aspiring authors. (Don't know much about 'im but thought you might appreciate some of his stuff.) Cheers!
