Healthy Aging
You hear it all the time: "Getting old isn't for the weak." There is a reason it is an oft-repeated old adage-it is very, very true-aging isn't for the weak . . . nor is it for the thrifty. Accidents and age-related (oh, how I hate that word!) injuries about in mid-life. Any middle aged person can give you a long list of things they did regularly and easily, and without thought, in their youth that they can no longer do . . . from physical activities, to hygeine routines, to gastronomic feats and indulgences. Me, I can't even LOOK at a cup of coffee-even decaf coffee-without finding myself in bed, staring up at the ceiling for the better part of the night. (How do you think this blog got started?) Aging with any amount of success is also expensive. There are the devices and pills to fix things that have already happened; then there are all the lotions and potions to prevent more things from happening, and then, there has to be a good stock of pills and potions for all the injuries that are inevitable. Aging is definitely a humbling process.
