A Call to Empathy
I just found out yet another friend of mine has a rare and chronic health condition. Like the neurological disease I have, she also has a disease that causes excruciating pain, and can also cause difficulty in movement, etc. Later this month, Mr. M and I will be getting together with a few friends for our annual Christmas get-together. One of the get-togetherers also has a rare and heart-breaking neurological disease, which I have gone to great lengths to study. She is a dear friend of mine, as is her husband, who is also her care taker, which requires a lot of love and patience on his part. Providentially, both of these disease-stricken friends are married to pastors who are fully committed to loving and caring for them. I am also married to a wonderful and Godly man who loves me unconditionally and accompanies me to all my doctor's appointments, and makes our family life (and my daily life) as normal as possible.
When I learn of a friend with a chronic health condition, I find out more about the condition and just what they are going through, and then I commit to praying for them daily, and seeking ways to encourage them in any way I can.
