Unexpected Dangers

Athletes get injured while playing their chosen sport; that is expected.  Adventure seekers get hurt kayaking rapids and bungee jumping over precarious cliffs; that is expected.  Kids get injured jumping off rooftops and other stupid things kids do; that is expected.  Stunt doubles get injured perfecting their jobs; expected.  Ninja Warriors get injured warring; expected.  Parents of youngsters get injured tripping over toys; expected.  (How many times have you seen a cartoon where a parent stumbles over a roller skate carelessly left on the stairs?)  I must add another source of unexpected dangers to my list.  (The first danger, a little boy's shoe, should have been expected, but it took me by surprise nonetheless.)

Adorable, fuzzy, little puppies.  Last week, it was a toddler's shoe, this week, it was an adorable puppy that took me out.  I was outside playing with Cali, and in an attempt (successful) not to step on her, I fell with my right wrist on the ground and my arm straight as a stick.  All my weigh was on my wrist.  I don't have any proof, but the tips of my fingers may have actually touched my elbow.  Thankfully, my dear husband and parter in getting older and sustaining unexpected injuries, got me a nice wrist brace, and I've been icing the injury (my preference is chocolate icing, but it is a personal choice), and I've been doing some simple stretches.  Oh, life!!  We never realize just how dangerous it is.
