Life as an Adventure

My old blog was titled "The Adventurous Life of Mine."  And so it was . . . my life, that is.  It was full of adventure.  I never traveled anywhere exotic, I never participated in any extreme sports, but what makes my life an adventure-every day-is that I have a rare neurological disease that can incapacitate me at any time, with no warning at all.  So driving across town is a scary enterprise. I have to have a Plan B for everything.  I have to rely on others, and trust that they will help me if I need it.  My condition leaves me vulnerable, to say the least.  I have learned (after a lifetime of having this genetic condition) that I need to rely on God and trust Him every day in every activity, and I need to pray that He would give others the grace to be patient with me.  I am very tangibly reminded daily that it is God who is the ultimate cause of any good in our lives.  It is because of His goodness that others show us kindness when we need it.  I am so grateful for the friends and family who show me love and kindness, but I am ultimately thankful to God, for He works through others for our benefit.  You and I are instruments in His hands.  You can see this most clearly in the Old Testament, where God repeatedly uses other nations to wage war on Israel, to punish Israel for their many and various sins against Him.  I continue going about my days and participating in life, trusting God at every turn to cause others to show kindness and patience.
