Where Did the Time Go?

I have told you that I maintained a blog consistently for 14 years (The Adventurous Life of Mine) before abruptly ending in with a Christmas letter in 2020.  I wanted to end it on a high note, not let it die a slow and painful death-the same way Jerry Seinfeld wanted to end his show.  (Maybe people can still appreciate that blog now, the way my husband and I still love Seinfeld reruns.)  Anyway, I put my heart and soul into that blog, and it was impressive.  I had a good number of followers, I had a community of blogging friends,  my blog was listed in a list of Christian women's blogs, I followed other blogs and had them all listed.  Now, well, now it is different.  I go to the blogs I used to follow, and many of them are like bad parts of Detroit-just sitting there, abandoned, overgrown with weeds.  The group of bloggers I used to virtually hang with have long disbanded.  We have all gone on with our lives, and no longer have the same amount of time to invest in a blog.  Some of the reasons are wonderful-marriage, kids, a new job, some of the reasons stink-disease and even death.  Whatever the reason, we've all moved on to new things.  It is, like one of my favorite lines in Friends (when Rachel moves out of the apartment she shares with Monica), " . . . the end of an era."  But new things have replaced the old, and that's just the way life works.
