Smiling at the Future

There are at least two new and exciting thing in our lives, things that have not yet exactly become a part of our lives, yet things that we are planning and preparing for.  One is a new puppy.  Her name will be . . . you guessed it, Cali.  In order to keep this fun new and exciting thing in our minds, to make more tangible this thing we are so looking forward to, we all went as a family last night to have her identification tag engraved.  It was quite a night, as we went out for dinner beforehand, and we went to look at refrigerators afterwards.  The refrigerator is for the house we will soon be moving into . . . and I found something to make that future event more tangible, too.  I found a small horse statue from the previous owner, so I took that home and put it on our mantle.  

Our son started pre-k at our church today, with the Fruit of the Spirit being the theme for the year.  While our souls are of infinitely more importance than any material possession, it is still fun to think about the things that lay in our more immediate future.
